PUBLICITY & SOCIAL MEDIA


 

The Publicity Team helps to get the word out about church programs and events – both within the church and to the wider community. We help church event organizers publicize events and keep the church website up to date. 

Getting Publicity – Email the team on the form below with event information early in the process. Lots of lead time is crucial!  We reach out to the wider community using social media and press releases, and can assist in placing paid advertising if that’s in your budget.  Internally, information goes out through the Thursday email bulletin, UUCV This Week. In addition to the website, the church also has a Facebook page, Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura. Information about Lift Up Your Voice events are also posted on the Facebook page, Lift Up Your Voice to End Homelessness

Communicating with One Another – If you are at an event with other UUs, take a picture and share it! You can post it in our Facebook Group – Unitarian Universalist Facebook of Ventura – for group members to enjoy (UUCV members and friends are invited to join – there’s a request button on the group page.) Ventura UU folks use the group to share news of interest, ask for rides, and have community building chats.   

Participation – Open to members and friends of UUCV interested in publicity, advertising, graphic design, web design or journalism. No previous experience needed. 

Meetings – As needed, normally via Zoom. 

Social Media – The Publicity Team posts material related to the church on Instagram at uuventurachurch, and on Facebook at Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura.  In addition, the congregation has a private Facebook group, Unitarian Universalist Facebook of Ventura, moderated by church members, Gretchen Buck, evan austin, and Kitty Merrill. Although the group page is not an official church page, the moderators request that your behavior in the group be governed by our UUCV Right Relations Covenant.
