ACTION TEAM FOR IMMIGRANT RIGHTS

We stand on the side of love with all families, regardless of citizenship or immigrant status.

ACTION TEAM FOR IMMIGRANT RIGHTS (ATIR) MISSION STATEMENT
Just as love knows no borders, our dedication to justice reaches across boundaries and walls. Our mission is to be involved with, support, and take action to defend the people and communities that are directly impacted by unjust immigration laws and policies in the United States. NO HUMAN BEING IS ILLEGAL!

ATIR COMMITMENT

  • Demonstrate our support of immigrants as they express their needs
  • Educate fellow congregants on issues facing immigrants in our community
  • Support congregants in becoming allies to immigrants
  • Collaborate with other organizations and faith groups in Ventura County working on immigration issues.

ATIR is a coordination committee formed to act as a liaison to the Social Action Coordinating Committee (SACC) and CLUE.  They will develop an “Immediate Emergency Response Team”, build a coalition with other organizations and initiate a fundraising effort for immigration rights actions. We are working to help undocumented immigrant families find a place to stay, food to eat, childcare, transportation and legal services. Volunteers are needed to create a network of people who can provide any of the services. This will only involve a few days at a time. Volunteers will also reach out for support already being planned by other groups in this area.

We are in covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity and compassion in human relations; and the goal of a world community with peace, liberty and justice for all. With love and the fervent hope that, together, we can make the world a better place for the most afflicted.
