GREEN SANCTUARY
Being a Green Sanctuary is one of the ways we work toward a vision of healthier, more sustainable future. As a recognized Green Sanctuary, we live with a deep awareness of our climate crisis and the deep environmental injustices of our time. We commit to four practices, grounded in Unitarian Universalist principles.
A GREEN SANCTUARY
Through these efforts and our ongoing commitment to the earth, we have been awarded the designation of Green Sanctuary by the UUA. We invite all who share these values to join us on this journey of connection, sustainability, and hope.
ETHICAL EATING
As part of our effort to support environmental sustainability, we support eating ethically. For different people, this can mean different things, but being mindful of our food choices is a first step. In 2011, the UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association) adopted a Statement of Conscience on Ethical Eating: Food and Environmental Justice. addressing the environmental concerns, issues with human health, and ethical treatment of animals which are connected to our food choices.
Here are places where you can to start making mindful eating a regular practice:
Farmer’s Markets
Community Supported Agriculture
Booklet of vegan recipes
We invite all who share these values to join us on this journey of connection, sustainability, and hope. Join our broad and growing movement for climate justice with Commit2Respond.
